With the popularity of Ipads and Smart Phones comes the desire to SCAN and PRINT. What’s the easiest way to do that? I’m going to mention a couple of ways that are easy and don’t cost much. One is from Google and this can work with your existing used copiers and printers. Another would be from copier manufacturer Ricoh. This capability is now an option with any refurbished Ricoh copier or MFP that you purchase or lease from us.
First Google. This is an excerpt from a recent article by Ronelle Ingram, a copier industry expert, in the August 2011 ENX magazine. She says, “Google’s stated goal is to build a printing experience that enables any app on any device to print to any printer anywhere in the world. Google uses a cloud print service. Apps no longer rely on the local operations system (and drivers) to print. Instead, apps use Google Cloud Print to submit and manage print jobs. Google Cloud Print sends the print job to the appropriate printer.”
With Google’s Cloud Print you must register one or more of your printers with Google and associate them to your Gmail account. You then print from your phone’s Gmail interface. Ronelle goes onto say that, “The registration process consists of downloading a special beta version of Google Chrome from the Cloud Print Website, installing it on a computer connected to a printer or copier that you want to make available through the service, and enabling the printer.”
And finally, Ricoh’s HotSpot Mobile Printing. Printing from your smartphone, tablet, or laptop is an easy three step process. With no drivers or software to download and no networks or 3rd party apps needed, you can print by simply sending an email.
1 Send your email to the address listed on the printer
2 Your secure print release code(s) will be emailed back to you.
3 Enter your print release code(s) on the printer keypad and receive you prints.
